SCROLLS

When I was 13 yrs old I saw an exhibit displaying a copy of the Dead Sea Scrolls. The beautiful scrolls displayed graceful undecipherable script that left an unforgettable impact on me.

In early childhood I developed a speech impediment. Despite speech therapy it was extremely painful communicating. I "talked" through drawings since 4 yrs. old but in high school I wanted to find a new format as a means of communication.

A narrow tall format felt right as a means of communicating & through this format I felt comfortable giving shape to intentionally suppressed memories. The scrolls stand testament to this... "I Am Who They Made Me" is an example. After I "revealed" the scrambled aspect of my mind I moved on to other media.
